Too Cute Tuesday: Easter Baskets, Buckets & More

It's hard to believe that Easter is only two weeks away! I realized this yesterday when I was searching for Addie's Easter basket. And then it occurred to me....Addie doesn't have an Easter basket yet! She was just a little newborn last year and since I was in a mommy-daze most of that first month...I never bought her an Easter basket! So...with Easter right around the corner, I realized I better get moving! Here are some of the adorable Easter baskets I found...

My Friend, My Pail by Land of Nod

I know this isn't your traditional Easter basket, but I think this metal pail is a cute alternative! I love how you can personalize the pail with your child's initial (I think the "A" caught my attention :-)

Sabrina Easter Basket by Pottery Barn Kids

If you are looking for a CUTE traditional Easter basket, be sure to check out the Sabrina basket at PBK. They have several adorable liners that you can personalize with your child's name. They also come in two different sizes.

Puffy Easter Baskets by Potter Barn Kids

These plush Easter baskets (also by PBK) are a bit small, but totally adorable. I especially love the flower and bunny. I think these are the perfect size basket to use for an Easter Egg hunt :-)

Easter Beach Pail

I am really a sucker for anything multi functional and I think this beach pail is a great idea for an Easter Basket! It can hold lots of fun goodies and then when Easter is over...you can take it to the beach!! You could even fill the pail with a little shovel, sand castle mold or other summer/beach items. I saw some great ones in the dollar bin at Target :-)

Cook Bear Shopping/Gardening Basket by Haba

Another great basket idea that can be used long after Easter. This little shopping basket by Haba is SOOOO cute and with an inner plastic lining and a wood handle...it is durable enough for indoor and outdoor use. I especially love the little snap pocket on the inside. Its a great place to stick another little surprise :-)

Well there you go! A few cute Easter basket ideas in case you are a little behind like me :-) If you have any other great basket ideas, be sure to share them!

50 Things

As I was flipping through my Real Simple magazine this morning, I noticed something very inspiring on The Simple List. It says:

50: The number of items you should get rid of (including regret and old makeup), according to life coach Gail Blanke, author of Throw Out Fifty Things: Clear the Clutter, Find Your Life. Clean your drunk drawer, see the light.

I have definitely been in the Spring Cleaning mood and this is just the motivation I was looking for. I mean...I can surely find 50 things to throw out right? I think a list would help (don't worry...I am not going to do all 50 right now).

1.) Old Toiletry Items: Including old makeup, lotions, face cleaners and any other product I haven't touched in a year.

2.) Expired Medicine: I know I can't be the only person with expired NyQuil in their medicine cabinet right? Sadly...NyQuil probably isn't the only expired medicine in there.

3.) Unused Kitchen Items: Okay...I am guilty of not throwing out ANY kitchen item because I am afraid I may need it some day. I have old serving utensils (even though I got an awesome set for my wedding), I have a back-up set of pots and and pans (which I haven't touched in 4 years), I have at least 8 "popcorn/chip" bowls, 2 Fondue sets (one of which is not even opened), etc. I am lucky to have a lot of great cabinet space but that doesn't mean I have to keep them jammed full of stuff. Goodwill...here I come!

4.) Old Holiday Decor: I have at least two Rubbermaid bins full of holiday decor that I haven't used in years. I have old stockings from college, a few strands of half burnt out Christmas lights (in case we ever need a replacement bulb of course), a wooden Easter bunny that is missing an ear (you know...I might end up finding that ear one day), a life-size paper skeleton, etc. I think it is time I part with these items.

5.) Old Clothes: I have tried to do this many times and even though I have made some pretty good progress since new years, I know I still need to part with a few more things. I have a TON of dressy work clothes and I hate to part with them because some day, I do plan to go back to work. But if that isn't for another 10 years, will my cropped Ann Taylor Loft turquoise blazer still be in style? Hmm...this one may take some work.

Okay...I know I've only listed 5 things, but I figure I have at least 10 items to throw out in each category so I think that is a good start. I haven't read Gail Blanke's book yet, but it looks like she not only covers de-cluttering your home, but also de-cluttering your mind. So...here are a few other things I would like to "throw out" this spring.

6.) Regret. The author has it right. There is no need to regret anything in life because you can't go back. Every mistake I have ever made has brought me to where I am today and I am in a very, VERY good place.

7.) Negativity. I think everyone has moments of negativity, but constantly complaining about things like money, jobs, busy schedules, etc. is not healthy and it doesn't get you anywhere. It just brings everyone else down around you.

8.) Jealousy: I believe that jealousy is the absolute worst quality a person can have and I can't stand it when I let myself feel jealous of someone else. Unfortunately, we can't always avoid this feeling. When I wanted to be pregnant, I felt jealous of every woman I saw walking down the street with a baby bump. I couldn't help myself. So while I don't think it is reasonable to say that I will never feel jealous again, I also believe that I can sometimes turn those jealous feelings into positive ones by focusing on all the blessings I DO have. I think that is a more positive and productive way to spend my time...and emotions :-)

Wow...that was fun! Damn I love making lists! Now I just need to actually clean and throw these things out. Guess I should get off this computer and get started while Addie is napping. So...have any of you made a list like this? Do you know of some things that you need to throw out this Spring?

Is It Just Me...

Or is this not one of the CUTEST baby girls you have ever seen?

I know I am partial because she is mine, but seriously...is she not the cutest? Uncle Ryan was over last night and since Addie was in a fabulous mood, he thought he would snap a few pictures.

We took over 100 pictures for her 1 year photo shoot and we only got about 3 where she was actually smiling. Then yesterday, all I had to do was put my necklace around her and let her run around her playroom and she smiled for almost EVERY SINGLE PICTURE! Go figure...

Anyway, I just had to share these. Happy Sunday everyone!

BFF's In The Making

As you all know, my sister-in-law Dana and I have been friends since we were in kindergarten. Can you pick the two of us out in this picture?

When we were growing up, Dana was always my go-to girl. She was the one friend I could always count on to be there for me when I needed someone to laugh with, to cry with, to feather bands with...

And because of our friendship, our mom's became friends too. Not many people can say they knew their mother-in-law (or saw her dressed as a cat) in second grade :-)

Dana and I were (are) the best of friends. We played dress-up together, passed notes together, shared clothes, shopped together, called each other to talk about boys, went to dances together...

You know...all the things that we want Addie and Nia to do together. We hope that they become the best of friends...just like Dana and I were. I don't know about you...but I think the girls are already BFFs in the making.

I mean just look...they are already playing dress up together!

I love how much the girls already have in common and I can't wait to see how they grow.

And now that there is a new man in their life...Dana and I can rest assured that they will be taken care of and looked after when they are older. Nolan is already a little body guard in the making :-)

Baby Bees: Day 2

Well...I wouldn't say that Baby Bees is Addie's favorite thing to do, but she definitely had more fun this week. I realized two very important things:

1.) Let Addie roam. When I force her to jump on the trampoline or go down the slide...this is the face I get...

But when I let her crawl/walk around and do what she wants to do...she is a happy camper (and so is Audery :-)

2.) Lay off the camera. I have a tendency to be a bit camera happy and whenever I stop interacting with her to take a picture, she gets pissed. Take this pic for example. When she was rocking away on the fish, she was happy as can be. But as soon as I whipped out the camera...this is the face I got...

Now that I have learned these two very important lessons, I am hoping next week will be even better. And even though Addie still didn't love Baby Bees this week...you can bet your sweet a** that one baby did. Can you guess who?

If you answered Nia Beanie you were right!!! I think Nia had a lot of fun burning off some energy this morning so hopefully when she goes home to mommy, daddy and new baby brother Nolan, she will take a nice looooooong nap so mommy and daddy can get some much needed sleep :-) We get to see the little guy tonight so you can expect lots of pictures :-)

Look Who's Making ME Breakfast Today!

YUM-O! Just what I wanted....toast and Jelly! How did she know?

Oh wait...I guess it wasn't for me. I think we need to work on sharing today :-)

{Side Note} Baby Nolan comes home today! Now sure if we will see him today or tomorrow, but you can expect lots of new pics soon :-)

Can I Get A Re-Do?

A few days ago, I posted about the two blog awards I won and one of the rules was to list 7 things I love. I am not sure what was going through my mind when I made my list. I think I am so use to doing those Facebook "25 Random Things About Me" surveys and I had some of those in mind. But after reading some of the blogs of friends I nominated, I realized I answered that question COMPLETELY wrong! For one thing...I didn't mention my hubby, my beautiful baby girl, my family OR my friends on my list!!! This may have led some of you to believe that I love doing dance routines in my living room...more than my family. This may have also led you to believe that I love standing in the school supply isle at Target sniffing crayons...more than my family. But I promise you I don't. So...I would like to request a Re-Do on my list of 7 things I love. Here is what I should have listed in the first place:

1. I love my beautiful, smart, funny, silly baby girl, Addie. People always tell you that you will never experience a love like the kind you have for your child and they are absolutely right. Addie is my heart and soul and I couldn't imagine life without her.

2. I love my wonderful, funny, sexy, sweet hubby, Eric. He is my soul mate and I love him more every day I am with him. Yes...some days he drives me nuts (like today when he left for work with my car keys in his pocket) but I know I drive him nuts too and if we can both still come home at the end of each day and love each other more than we did the day before...we must be doing something right!

3. I love my family. I honestly have the BEST FREAKING FAMILY in the world. I have two talented, selfless, loving parents who would do anything for us. I also have a mother and father in law that go out of their way to make me feel like a part of their family and that is a very special thing. Thanks to my two fabulous brothers, I have gained two wonderful sister-in-laws. And thanks to Eric...I gained my best friend as a sister-in-law too! And lets not forget my brother-in-law Kev...who always knows how to make me laugh. I also have a beautiful niece and as of yesterday, a precious little nephew!!! Did I mention I was blessed?

4. I love my friends. I have many dear friends who, for the most part, live out of town. But thanks to blogland...we keep in touch more now than I ever dreamed we would. I know lots of people bash blogging and Facebooking because they say it keeps people form interacting in the "real" world. Well to me...this is the real world. We all have families and jobs and responsibilities. Getting together isn't always an option. And sadly...that is how you can lose friends...by not seeing them or keeping in touch. But the Internet gives us a way to stay connected. My friend Mandy and I lived in the same town for almost 6 years and I almost feel like I know her better now (from reading her blog every day) than I did when we use to sit on my back porch talking about boys. I know that sounds crazy...but I feel like we all share more about our lives and feelings when we can write them down and show them to the world. But maybe that's just me. After all, writing is what I do best :-)

5. I love the Internet. I thought it was only appropriate to follow up with this one because it is very important to me. As I said above, blogging has led me to many old and new friends, which is reason enough to continue logging on each day. But blogging has also done something else for me. It has helped me build a new relationship with God. You see...I was raised Catholic. I went to church ever Sunday, attended CCD classes, made communion and confirmation. I did everything I was suppose to do. But honestly, I always felt like church was forced on me. I couldn't find a connection there and so when I was given the choice about church...I chose not to go. I have always believed in God and I have always continued to pray...but I feel like it was for selfish reasons most of the time. "God please help me pass this test." "God please help me make the dance team." I know it is okay to pray for these things, but in return, I realized I never thanked God for what he had already given me. I never realized the power of prayer and hope. I never realized how much God was responsible for in my life. And it shouldn't have taken the Internet to prove all that to me...but it did. Well...that and the birth of my baby girl. I don't know how anyone can look at a baby and not realize there is a much higher power at work. But I digress. My point in saying all this is that thanks to blogging...I have been able to witness a few miracles. I have been able to witness the power of prayer. I've been able to witness the unwavering faith of some pretty remarkable men and women. And more importantly, I have realized how truly and undeniably blessed I am to have the things that I have in life. Yes my friends...blogging has done all that for me. See why I love it so much?

6. On a lighter note, I love my house. I know this may be a silly one, but I do. I LOVE my house. It is warm and cozy and when I look around, I can picture Eric and I raising our kids and growing old together here. It isn't the biggest house in the world and things seem to fall apart on a regular basis...but it is our home.

7. I love my job. Being a Stay-At-Home-Mommy is seriously the BEST job in the world!! So many people thought I would miss working once I left my job at the college but after almost a year of staying home with Addie...I can honestly say that I don't miss it for one second!!!!! I still get to teach a class a each week so I am sure that is what keeps me sane. I do miss my work friends but luckily...I get to see them every once and a while. I am so lucky to have this opportunity to stay home with my kids and I will cherish these days for the rest of my life :-)

So...was today's post sappy enough for you? After the birth of my beautiful nephew yesterday and after reading about baby Stellan...I just felt the need to post about my blessings and all of my blog revelations. Has anyone else had a blog revelation? Has blogging or reading blogs taught you anything new about yourself? I would love to hear your stories :-)

Baby Nolan is Here!!!

I would like to introduce you to...

Nolan Edward Skedel
7 pounds, 13 ounces, 20 inches

He has a full head of dark hair, just like his mommy...
And long legs, just like his daddy :-)

Here are the proud grandparents...showing off their new grandson.

And here I am...sweating from baby fever :-)

Watching Eric with a baby is probably the sexiest thing in the world.

And here are brother and sister...they look alike in this picture don't they?

The proud aunt and uncle. I actually had to fight Eric for the baby...he didn't want to let him go.

And here is the little man himself. I think he looks just like Dana.

Dana and Nolan are both doing GREAT tonight. Dana only had a 5 hour labor and delivery. It doesn't get much better than that! Little Miss Nia is at home with her other grandma and grandpa and she is doing great too. She got to meet Nolan earlier today and she was more interested in her Cheetos. No worries...she will have plenty of time to bond with her new brother :-)

Well that is all I have for tonight! You can count on a LOT more pictures in the near future :-)

The Time Has Finally Come...

My sister-in-law Dana is in labor!!!!!

I'm told it won't be long now. Dana is progressing nicely and her and the baby are doing great. I promise to post as soon as baby boy arrives. I am going to be an aunt...AGAIN!!

Too Cute Tuesday: Cures for Sickies and Ouchies

For the first 6 months of life, Addie didn't experience one bump, bruise, scrape or runny nose. I was VERY protective of her and hoped to continue that trend. Even though I am still very protective of my little peanut, I have learned to accept the fact that accidents happen. She is a wobbly, curious, danger-seeking toddler who bumps her head at least twice a day. The only solution I can come up with is to either bubble wrap my whole house...or bubble wrap her. Unfortunately, neither of those is going to work for us. I have also learned to accept the fact that germs happen...a lot...especially with kids who share sippy cups, binkies, toys, fingers, etc. So...after a few runny noses, a touch of the flu, a case of Rolseola, countless bumps and bruises AND a nose dive off her toy box...I decided it was time to stock Addie's medicine cabinet with a few cute essentials.

Hot Hugs Lamb Heat Pack

What kid wouldn't want to cuddle up with this cute little lamb? He can sooth away an upset tummy just by squeezing him! And since this little guy is also filled with lavender essential oils...he may be able to sooth your child to sleep too. He is microwaveable and easy to wash.

Retro Ice Bag by Gal Pal

I remember my grandma using an ice pack to cure just about everything. I tried looking for one a long time ago when I was in college to cure hangovers...errr...headaches and I had no luck! But thanks to Gal Pal, the retro ice bag is back! They have tons of great patterns, especially for kids. I am a sucker for polka dots so this is my pick. I honestly think I need one for myself!

Happy Camper Adhesive Bandages by Cupcakes and Cartwheels

I'm not gonna lie...I would sometimes milk a paper cut just to get a cute band-aid when I was little. And if they would have had bandages as cute as these Happy Camper bandages, I would have been purposely giving myself paper cuts.

Boo Bunnies Ice Pack

When a big old ice bag is too much to hold, I think it is great to have one of these adorable Boo-Bunnies on hand for soothing little bruises and bumps. God knows we have used this item SEVERAL times in the last month. Target sells them in sets of two. You know, one for your toddler to hold and one for you to actually put on the bump. Perfect!

Frog Humidifier by Crane

We have been through one awful cold and flu season this year and we have put a lot of miles on our humidifier. We have a very functional, but boring, humidifier and I may just have to trade up to this adorable frog for next year!!

Musical Sponge Bob Thermometer

Because sickies and ouchies sometimes come with a fever, why not have a fun thermometer that won't make kids scream. This musical Sponge Bob thermometer is perfect and with a 9 second read out...it is fast AND fun!

Hope you like these cute finds for ouchies and sickies. If any of you have something adorable and functional you would like to add to the list...be sure to comment. I would love to know what else to buy for Addie's medicine cabinet :-)

Already Going for Older Men

I kept hoping that my sister-in-law would go into labor last night so that I could post today about my new nephew but nope!! That little guy is holding out for the last minute. He is already a mama's boy for sure :-)

So to pass the time, I thought I would post about another man in Addie's life...Patrick.

Patrick is a bit older than Addie (he is 5) but if Patrick is like most men, they are at the same maturity level. Ha! Patrick likes to play the "cool guy" who isn't interested in girls. But...when he thinks no one is looking...he will make his move. I can only imagine, by looking at this picture, that he said "So...you come here often?"

BUSTED! As soon as Patrick knew I snapped a picture, he was out of there. No more flirting for him! That is...until another woman entered the scene.

This is Miss Francesca, who just celebrated her baptism yesterday. Isn't she precious in her dress?

Chessa and Addie became fast friends and they spent a good hour playing together. My friend Jenny (Patrick's mom) was playing Sippy Cup Sheriff and do you notice who is standing behind her? That's right. Mr. Cool...checking out the ladies :-)

Before we left the party, I had Jenny snap a quick family picture. Addie was laughing and smiling but as soon as the camera came out, she was over it. So this is the best we could get. Still cute in my opinion :-)

So that was our weekend! Another fun party on another BEAUTIFUL day. I am so glad that Spring is here. I hope you all had a great weekend too!

You Love Me, You Really Love Me!

While I was busy posting about Addie's birthday party and flashing back to my pregnancy earlier this month, I completely forgot to thank my new blogger friend, ASC from A Prepsters Guide to the Waiting Game, for this wonderful award!! I love ASC's blog because it is so honest and fun. Her and her hubby are trying for their first baby and I just LOVE her excitement about each step in the process. Kind of gives me baby fever....just like everything else lately. Haha! Sorry for the delay ASC, but thank you SO MUCH for this fabulous award! We would definitely be friends in real life :-)

And speaking of awards, I would just like to thank my real life friend Jenn from Jeans Friday for this other FANTASTIC award!! I am truly flattered honey! Jenn is honestly one of the most creative people I know (especially when it comes to photography) so I am definitely honored to receive this award form her. Thanks Jenn! Love ya!

So...I have some rules to follow. First up...the rules for my Friends Award.

Rules do accompany this honor:
"These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

I would also like to add that I have selected these eight blogs because I honestly believe that if we did meet in real life, we would be the best of friends :-)

1. Veronnica from The Adventures of Miss V
2. Chelle from Life with Alexander
3. Lisa from Like a Valentine
4. Angela from Sweet Tea Diaries
5. Whitney from That Girl and Her Pug
6. Mrs. M from My Life as Mrs. M
8. Kelly from Kelly's Korner

And the rules of my Kreativ Blogger Award are...

List 7 things that you love, and then pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you love! Be sure to tag them and let them know they have won. You can copy the picture of the award and paste it on your sideboard letting the whole world know...you are Kreativ!!

My list:

1. I love cleaning. I don't know if it is because I have O.C.D or A.D.D. but either way...I love it.
2. I love the smell of crayons. I will sniff a box every time I walk into Target.
3. I love doing old college dance team routines in my living room. Yes...I can still remember them :-)
4. I love decorating and redecorating my house. If I had the money and the time, I would redecorate a new room every month.
5. I love celebrity gossip magazines. I know they are trash...but I can't help myself!
6. I love eating grapes while I walk through the grocery store. I know some might consider this "stealing" but I do buy the rest of the bag when I leave.
7. When I need to get out and have some time to myself, my favorite thing to do is get a Starbucks and walk around Barnes and Noble. LOVE it!

Okay...now for my list of Kreativ Bloggers! I always pick the same blogs for awards so I am going to try and branch out. Haha!

Whew!!! That was a list! Thanks for the fabulous awards girls!

Baby Bees: Day 1

I couldn't wait for Addie to turn 1 because that meant we could sign up for Baby Bees!!! Our very first class was this morning and let me just say...Addie was not as excited as I was. This is about the happiest face we saw the whole morning...

I thought she would surely get a kick out of shaking her maracas. But not so much...

I thought she would like looking in the mirror with Grandma Davis. But not so much...

I thought she would like playing super baby on the mats. But not so much...

I thought she would have more fun if Grandma Mueller took over. But not so much...

She loves to bounce so I was SURE she would love this activity. But not so much...

When all else failed, I thought she would definitely like sitting on the teeter totter with Audrey. But again...not so much...

It seems that the only thing Addie wanted to do all morning was be held. So Grandma took one for the team.

Even though Addie wasn't that into Baby Bees today, at least someone was having fun! But then again, when isn't Nia having fun. Just look at that grin!

And here she is doing a summersault...

She had such a blast today and I know Dana did too, considering it is the last time it will be just her and Nia. Dana is just days (or less) away from having her 2nd baby (my nephew) and WE CAN'T WAIT!! Don't worry...you will all be the first to know!
