172 Days

Please answer the following multiple choice questions. Answers will be revealed at the end of this post.

1. I only have to wait 172 more days until

a) My brother's wedding
b) Our second child is born
c) "New Moon" opens in theaters

2. The fact that I am considering the opening of a movie to be as important as my brother's wedding and/or the birth of our second child is

a) Sad
b) Pathetic
c) Totally understandable
d) All of the above

The answer to question 1 is (c) 172 days until New Moon opens in theaters. Therefore, the answer to question 2 is (d) All of the above. It is sad because it is just a silly movie...not even in the same ballpark as a wedding or birth of a child. It is pathetic because I actually took the time to Google the number of days until the movie opens (and if I had a PC instead of a Mac, I may have downloaded the countdown widget). But all this is totally understandable because if you saw the New Moon clip tonight and/or read the book, you would know it is going to be AWESOME!

And what's even more awesome to me is that all this hype, fandom and hysteria is based on a story that a stay-at-home Mom of 3 boys wrote during her summer vacation. Seriously!! Stephanie Meyer wrote Twilight in a matter of 3 months after having a dream. She hadn't written anything since college and she didn't even know where to begin. And now look. Look at what this one story has become. It's a freaking empire!! And all the actors tonight thanked her over and over again and I just think that is so cool. It inspires me to keep writing. Not because I hope to have Robert Pattinson star as one of my leading men one day (although that would be pretty awesome) or because I think my writing will ever amount to anything, but because it just goes to show you that it's never too late to follow a dream. I know...these are pretty deep thoughts for having just watched MTV for the last three hours...but I thought I would share anyway :-)

Weekend Fun Ahead

I think I jumped the gun a wee bit yesterday when I said I was finally feeling better. Although I am happy to report that I no longer feel achy and feverish, I did spend a good part of the day eating crackers and drinking Pedialyte (which tastes like ass in case you were wondering). But, I am going to do my best to get another long night of rest so that I am refreshed  and ready for my friend Linsey's Birthday this weekend!!! She will of course receive the usual celebration of cake, drinks and dinner from her hubby and family and even though I know she will love celebrating this way, I know the way to my girl's heart. So, I invited her for an extra birthday celebration at my house on Sunday. What will we be doing you ask? Well...

We will be viewing the MTV Movie Awards with Pizza, Popcorn, and Sour Patch Kids.

I should lie and say that we are watching the show to see who wins all the great awards and even though that is partially true...we have two other very important reasons to watch. For one, I hear they are showing a never before seen clip of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Woohoo!

Yes...I am still stalling a bit. Even though we are both excited to see the Harry Potter clip, I think we are even more excited to see the New Moon clip!!!!

What? You think it is strange that two 28/29-year-old moms would want to spend their Sunday night eating candy and watching clips of young adult fiction turned into movies? Maybe it is...but we don't care! I have a strange feeling that we are not alone. Anyone else want to admit their Harry Potter and/or Twilight obsession? Anyone?

No Fun

On a normal day, having the flu bug is no fun. But being pregnant AND having the flu bug AND being responsible for a toddler give new meaning to the phrase "No fun." But thanks to my fabulous parents...I got to spend the day resting and I am happy to say that I am FINALLY feeling better. I hate being sick, but having someone clean my kitchen, fold my laundry, cook my meals AND take care of Addie for the day is almost worth it. HA! Just kidding :-) Thank you SO MUCH Dad for helping out with peanut this morning and thank you SO MUCH Mom for being my cook, housekeeper, nurse and nanny today. Love you both so much. Okay...better get back on the couch and rest some more. I think a little So You Think You Can Dance will be good for me :-)

You Convinced Me...Bermudas It Is

After a very positive review of Bermudas from all of my blogger and real life friends, I decided to go in search of the perfect pair. Since I wanted (needed) to stick with maternity styles, I went on a little shopping trip to Gap (one of my favorite maternity and non-maternity destinations) and guess what I found...CAPRIS!!!

So of course I bought these because as I said before, capris are a staple in my summer wardrobe. But I felt sort of guilty not giving Bermudas a try so I slipped a pair on. They only had two sizes on the rack and one happened to be mine! It was meant to be :-) But when I put them on, they were huge! I needed to go a size down. Let me just tell you...even if I didn't like them on...I would have still bought them because they were a size smaller. I am sure the roominess had something to do with the style but oh well. Aren't they cute?

What I liked best about them was that they weren't suction cupped to my meaty (YES...meaty) thighs. They were the right amount of baggy and they actually made my legs look skinny! I was also happy that they came with a demi panel instead of a full panel. For those of you who don't know maternity styles, the demi panel is much more versatile because you can wear it all throughout your pregnancy (and after).

I was a bit bummed that they didn't have my size in the store but thanks to Gap.com...I was able to get them in my size!!! And while I was there, I thought I might as well pick up a pair of Bermudas for Addie too. Aren't these adorable? Now her and I can match.

Thanks again for all the help with this "crucial" decision friends. As soon as UPS arrives, I will be the proud owner of my first pair of Bermudas. I am moving up in the fashion world. My next quest is a very cute everyday maxi dress that has a little room for a tummy. It doesn't need to be maternity (since so many of the maxi dress styles are already empire waisted) but it has to have room. Any thoughts??

A Perfectly Lazy Holiday

It's not often that Eric and I get to spend a Monday at home together, so when we discovered we had no plans this Memorial Day (we had a BBQ the day before)...we decided to take advantage of the rainy day by doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! All of us are still in our pj's and we just got done watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I had to refresh my memory since Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince comes out in July! Woohoo!

After Harry Potter wrapped up, Eric turned on some random Travel channel show on Hot Dogs around the world. I am usually not a huge hotdog fan, but when I caught a glimpse of a big old corn dog...I wanted one NOW! Damn pregnancy cravings. So I sent Eric to Jewel to get us some of these...

Let me just tell you...that was the best freaking corn dog I have ever had! And speaking of food and cravings, I recently saw an Olive Garden commercial and realized that Eric and I hadn't been there in a really long time. But the thought of packing up Addie and driving 35 minutes to the closest one didn't seem really appealing today. I mean come on...I would have to get out of my jammies! So I downloaded the recipe for Garlic Shrimp Caprese and decided I am going to make it home tonight.

I'll let you know how that turns out :-) All in all, I would say this was the PERFECT holiday for us. Addie took 2 naps, Howie took 3, we ate about 3,000 calories apiece and I just saw that Runaway Bride starts in an hour. WOOHOO! Feels like Mother's Day all over again :-)

Finally A Little Summer

I was starting to wonder if summer was ever going to come this year. Between rain and 40 degree temps...I was sure it would be a long time before I needed to break out Addie's sunscreen and hat. But, the past few days have been absolutely BEAUTIFUL and we have taken full advantage.

So far, the playhouse Grandma and Grandpa Davis got her for her birthday has been a big hit. She knows how to ring the doorbell, open and close the shutters and hide all of her toys from Howie.

I always wondered why Howie found rolling around in the grass to be so enjoyable. I guess he isn't crazy because Addie loves doing it too. Maybe I should try it out and see what all the fuss is about.

The girl never stops running. I am glad Eric and I managed to find a house with a decent backyard AND a fence.

Well...now you can see who she was running to. DADDY!!!

Eric was home in time for a little backyard fun and Addie greeted him with a big old kiss. So freaking cute!

The weather man says we have a chance of rain this weekend, but I am really hoping it holds off so we can have a few more days of this kind of fun. Plus, we have a LOT to celebrate this weekend! My mother-in-law Patti just found out that the biopsy she had on her breast last  Wednesday came back clean! No cancer!! Now her and my mom both have clean bills of boobie health this year. God is good :-)

Capris vs. Bermudas

When I was pregnant with Addie, I made the transition to maternity pants around 12 weeks. It wasn't that I necessarily needed them at that point, but they were just so damn comfortable! Well, this time around, I think I am actually going to need maternity pants by 12 weeks. No joke. So I started looking around for capris because that is pretty much all I wear during the summer. I don't do shorts unless I have to because my thighs are...well...a little meaty.

But what I have come to discover during this little search is that no one wears capris anymore. Apparently EVERYONE is wearing Bermudas.

When did this happen? When did Bermudas replace capris? I guess they are a pretty smart concept for meaty-thighed women like me. I mean, they are shorter than capris but long enough to cover all those not-so-cute areas. But are these really cute on? I can't say I have seen anyone wear Bermudas (except some of the size 2 teeny bops in Hollywood) so I wonder how they look on curvy women. So I ask...do any of you J-Lo look-a-likes out their own a pair of Bermudas? Do you love them or hate them?

I suppose if Bermudas don't end up being the right fit for me, I could say screw my meaty thighs and let them hang out in a pair of these.

Oh...you didn't know they made maternity daisy dukes? Well it's your lucky day! I know what Jessica Simpson will be wearing when she finally gets knocked up :-)

BORING!!!

I might be over reacting from the pregnancy hormones...but has my blog become (gulp) boring? I have had like 1 comment in over a week! Even after I put up a belly shot!!! Have all of you abandoned me? Was it the Ghost Whisperer post again? DAMN! I knew I shouldn't have talked about it again. Okay...I promise to have more exciting posts this week. That is...if anyone even cares? Tear....

* DISCLAIMER: Yes...this is a sad, desperate attempt at guilting my friends into posting a comment :-)

What's The Difference Between a Blueberry & a Bagel?

Well, my friends, a blueberry is the size of Peanut #2 at 7 weeks...

And a bagel is the size of my already-forming baby belly. Actually, it looks more like a gut right now but that's okay. It just boggles my mind how the baby is only the size of a blueberry,  but I am already contemplating breaking out my maternity pants for comfort. Ha!

I had my first prenatal appointment today and everything still looks great! According to my ultrasound last week, I am measuring a little further along which means we may be ringing in 2010 in the hospital. Ah!!!! But honestly...I can't think of a better way to celebrate the New Year :-)

Uncle Ryan's Favorite Subject

Uncle Ryan stopped by for a little visit this weekend and I wanted to share a few of the cutest/funniest pictures he took.

This picture cracks me up because you can see that Addie inherited my long boney fingers. She stood and pressed that doorbell for at least 20 minutes.

Disregard the crazy windblown hair...but look at that cute little smile!! I could just eat her.

Yes...she is holding another Blackberry. This one is Uncle Ryan's...her favorite.

Howie was showing her the escape route he plans to use one day.

I love this picture because you can see how blonde her hair is!!

Nothing significant about this shot...I just thought it was a cute one :-)

This picture is HILARIOUS!! Her jeans are 18 month (she needs the length) but after she wears them for a whole day, they start to sag. I love how her little diaper is hanging out the back. Too freaking cute!

Thanks for stopping by Uncle Ryan! We love you!

All Caught Up

I am happy to say that after my week long TV binge, my house is finally clean and back to in order! I do have some MAJOR laundry to do tomorrow but that is all. Whew! I love productive weekends :-)

So speaking of catching up, I thought I would share some cute pictures from Addie's last day at Baby Bees.

Of course, now that the class has come to an end, Addie and all her little friends are LOVING Baby Bees...and each other :-) That's okay...we plan to take it again in the fall.

The instructors decided to bring out all the kid's favorites and even though the bean bag toss caught Addie's attention for a few minutes, she wanted to make sure she got plenty of time on her favorite activity...the bouncy mat. Here she is running down to Grandma.

And here she is running back up...

And running back down...

Needless to say...Grandma was pretty beat after class. I got the day off from chasing peanut and sat with Mr. Nolan. Addie made sure to check on him often :-)

Well I hope you all had a great weekend! I will be sure to report in tomorrow in between loads of laundry :-)

May Sweeps = Nothing Gets Done

Thanks to an amazing invention called TiVo...I can now be Super Mom by day and TV junkie by night. During normal broadcast months, I am comfortable waiting to watch shows until I have the time. But during May Sweeps (or season finale week) I put all other things aside. I suppose I owe my beautiful baby girl a big thank you for going to bed by 7:00 p.m. each night this week in order to feed Mommy's addiction. I was able to catch the season finales of all 5 of my favorite shows and here is my take on all of them (SPOILER ALERT!!! Do not read on if you have any of these shows TiVoed :-)

First up:

Bones

In yesterday's post, I talked about how excited I was to FINALLY witness a Booth and Brennan love scene. And while I did catch a small glimpse of this, it was a dream/comma-induced hallucination...which in my opinion DOES NOT COUNT!! Shame on you Fox!! We have waited 4 long years for these two characters to finally express their love for each other and all we get is a dream? My fellow Bones fanatic friend Angela believes whole heartedly that there is a bigger plan in place for Season 5. Perhaps this dream sequence was a vision of what's to come for these two characters (in one way or another) and boy do I hope she is right because as of right now...Eric and I are thinking about revoking our Bones Fan cards.

Grey's Anatomy

I have to say that this was one of the best season finales of Grey's ever!!! It doesn't replace the Mer/Der love scene at the prom or Denny's grand exit in Season 3's finale, but it comes pretty darn close. And I have to give my hubby credit...he knew the bus guy was George the minute they brought him in. I still have no idea how he knew that...but he did. And he was right!! I got pretty choked up at the end when everyone realized it was him too. Oh, and even though I kinda-sorta called Izzie's memory loss, I never expected for her to actually flat line too!! But...I still believe she is coming back next season. George, on the other hand, is a goner. He was already standing outside the elevator. In his uniform. Looking happy and content. He was in heaven. He was waiting for Izzie to join him. But did you see the hesitation in her eyes? She is going back up.  Alex may still have the chance to smother her with a pillow later down the road. As for Mer/Der...I am happy they at least attempted a wedding and stayed together through the whole finale. Nice change of pace :-) Anyone else happy with how this finale turned out? Or were you pissed that there are still so many unanswered questions? Or do you simply not give a crap?

Fringe

This was the first season of Fringe and I am SO happy to see that it will be returning this fall. Eric and I love this show. It has totally replaced X-Files for me (I know...I am a loser...I have admitted it many times). I thought the finale was incredible and it really made me think. If there are two realities to this world, and there is another "me" walking around somewhere, I would love to meet her. Would you want to meet the other you? Sorry...turning into a Sci-Fi geek now. But if you like that sort of thing, you totally need to check out this show.

Ghost Whisperer

Well...you all already know my feelings about Ghost Whisperer. I freaking love this show. But judging by the chirping crickets and lack of comments the last time I posted about GW...I know to keep it short. The finale was good...but not great. I am thrilled that Melinda is pregnant (baby bumps are cute even if they are fake) and I am happy her and Jim/Sam/Jim got married/re-married. But I do think there could have been a liiiiiitle more excitement in a season finale. I would like to know where Jennifer Love Hewitt got her maternity clothes though.

Prison Break

It was a bittersweet night for me. Eric and I are SOOOO very sad to see Prison Break go, but we both know deep down that it is time. I mean honestly...how many times can one man break in and out of prison? The horse is dead...it's time to stop beating it. But like all Series Finales, I am looking for closure and this show hasn't always been about closure. Every time you think these guys are free, someone betrays them and they are sent running again. So to finally see Michael, Lincoln, Alex, Sara and the rest of the gang set free...that's what I call closure. I also like when finale's jump ahead a few years to see how everyone is doing and they did that tonight!! Although, I sort of wish they wouldn't have because the last scene was everyone gathered around Michael's grave. Damn brain bleed!! WHY??!!!

Okay...that's enough talk about TV. I am actually a little embarrassed that I just recapped all of those shows because it makes it painfully obvious what I have been doing with my free time this week. Not cleaning. Not doing my laundry. Not writing my book. So now I have to spend my whole weekend making up for what I failed to do while I was in my TV comma this week. That's okay...it was totally worth it. And I have a long summer of reruns so I can assure you this won't happen again. Wait...doesn't the Bachelorette and So You Think You Can Dance start soon?

A Play Date, Awesome TV & A Giveaway!

You really can't ask for a better Thursday in my opinion. For starters, Addie slept in until 7:00 this morning! Alleluia!! Oh, and did I mention that the sun is shining? Woohoo!

Later this morning, Addie and I have a fantastic play date to attend with my friend Linsey and her daughter Kennedy. Don't worry...I will post pics of the girls later :-) We are scheduled for some playroom time and a trip to the park!

I am hoping that our day of fun will wear Addie out enough to go to bed at 7:00 tonight so I can start my Season Finale marathon. My two favorite shows (Bones and Grey's Anatomy) are on tonight and I can't WAIT to see what happens. Word on the spoiler street is that Bones and Booth FINALLY have sex. I have been waiting 4 long seasons for this :-)

And on Grey's, everyone is expecting Izzy to kick the bucket tonight but I have a feeling she is going to live. My guess is that she loses her memory in the big risky surgery Derek has planned. I mean, how does a character come back from a brain tumor and still have something exciting to talk about? Oh...that's right...lose your memory! Forget about the wedding you just had with Alex, forget about Denny (finally), forget you're a doctor...all highly dramatic stuff. So we will see what happens. But mark my words...if Derek and Meredith break up in ANOTHER season finale...I am done with Grey's. Forever.

And last but not least on my Thursday agenda, I have a fabulous giveaway to share with you! My friend Christina from Peanut's Page is giving away a Baby Dipper Bowl and Spoon set! It's super easy to enter, so be sure to check it out on her blog. But hurry...the giveaway ends tomorrow!!

Well that's all for today folks! I have to feed my babies breakfast and get our fabulous day started. Have a good one!

Little Mozart & A Gummy Bear

I know it is too soon to tell, but I may have a little Mozart on my hands!

When Grandma sat Addie in front of the piano yesterday, I thought she would squirm off that bench faster than you could say "play". But to my surprise, she started banging away at the keys!

I know it was just in our imagination, but we all SWEAR she was playing Chop Sticks. And in case you were wondering...those are her Mardi Gras beads...again. She never takes them off.

And in other Davis news, we got our first peak of Peanut #2 today!!!

I had a little bit of spotting this morning (had some with Addie too) and my doc just wanted to make sure everything was fine and dandy. Thankfully, it was!! I got to see AND hear the amazing heartbeat. P2 looked more like a gummy bear than a baby today, but it was still amazing to see his/her little beating heart. God is amazing.

Well that's all for today folks! It is a nasty, rainy day and Peanut #1 needs some indoor entertainment. Playroom here we come!
