I know Easter only comes once a year, but trying to coordinate everyone's schedules to make one big celebration work is not always possible. So we like to break holidays up into week-long celebrations in our family :-)
So last night we celebrated with my in-laws and I gave Dana an early little birthday gift (the rosette necklace that is all the rage these days).
And of course Mima and Papa Steve came bearing 4 very LARGE Easter baskets full of treats for the kiddies. Here's Papa teaching the boys how to shoot their dart gun.
I took this picture as a word of caution: DO NOT Buy Crayola colored bubbles. They may be washable, but they are a TOTAL mess.
But you know what's not a mess? Sweet baby chics that chirp when you hold them. The girls were crazy about these.
They were also excited about helping set the table.
Dana put together quite a spread...
And the rest of us contributed to her delicious turkey.
The adults all ate until our pants were tight, but the kids were too busy smiling for pictures...
Or playing in the dirt outside...
I honestly don't know why our husbands are so against sand boxes because these boys manage to find a place to dig anyway. And dirt and mulch are a LOT harder to wash off :-)
But after a good scrub, the kiddies were all bathed (in their matching jammies from Mima) and ready for an
EASTER EGG HUNT!
Blake was the first to score an egg.
And then it was madness...kids running everywhere trying to snatch the eggs.
But Nia, being the sweet big cousin she is, made sure Blake had plenty of eggs too. What a doll.
And here they are...showing off all their eggies.
I think it's safe to say that these kids are going to need some major candy detox at the end of this week.
But that's what holidays are all about. Eating like crap, having some fun and enjoying each other's company :-)
